New Releases for the Week of 1-28-2015

Here’s the featured new comic releases for the week of Wednesday, January 28th, 2015.

First up is Marvel’s reboot of the popular Uncanny Avengers title.

Uncanny_Avengers_#1Uncanny Avengers #1 is by the regular team of Rick Remender and Daniel Acuna. The first run was easily my favorite Avengers run in the last 15 years, and this weird new line up looks to be fun. We’ll get to see the Vision, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver spotlighted before the movie comes out this May.

Over at DC we’ve got the Multiversity Guide Book.

Multiversity_Guidebook.This one’s a $7.99 guide to all 52 Earth’s written by Grant Morrison. This will likely be neccesary reading when Convergence comes around in April. I find all the Multiversity books to be just on the right side of entertainingly weird.

The big standout in small press this week is The Dying and the Dead #1 from Image Comics.

Dying_and_the_Dead_#1Written by Jonathan Hickman, who’s been killing it lately with East of West. “A murder at a wedding reveals a fifty year-old secret. At great cost, a man with a dying wife is given the opportunity to save her. A lost tribe is reborn in another time. Seemingly disparate events that force relics from the Greatest Generation to come together for one last hurrah.”

For fans of Walking Dead, writer Robert Kirkman’s other comic comes out in a reasonably priced graphic novel this week.

Outkast_GNOutcast Volume one is only $9.99 and includes the first six issues of the series. “Kyle Barnes has been plagued by demonic possession all his life and now he needs answers. Unfortunately, what he uncovers along the way could bring about the end of life on Earth as we know it.” It’s already been opted as a television series so hop in on the ground floor.

We’re finally be getting in the musical Dancing Groot figures that were promised to us before Christmas.

Dancing_GrootThese sell for $19.99 and play “I Want You Back” while Groot dances. Just in time for the holidays.

Finally we’ve got this funky little freebee.
