Fight Club 2 and New Releases for the Week of 5-27-2015
We’ve got even more Secret Wars first issues this week, along with the end of Convergence, a new issue of Sandman and a great new action figure from DC Direct.
But first, here’s our book of the week, along with a really great promotion. Fight Club 2 #1 by Chuck Palahniuk!
In a bold move to embrace the world of graphic storytelling, writer Chuck Palahniuk has written a sequel to his hit movie as an eight issue mini series from Dark Horse Comics. Set ten years after the movie, artist Cameron Stewart has said he’s had to draw things that still bother him to this day. To show support for this launch, Chuck has reached out directly to the shop and provided us with a leather bound hardcover of the original Fight Club that he has signed “to Cleveland” We will raffle this book off with everyone getting one raffle slip for every copy of the book that they buy. There are three different covers, including a super rare one, all of which will be cover price. We even have a few back up prizes, some severed limbs also signed by Chuck himself. The winner will be drawn at the end of the day on Sunday.
Secret Wars
Secret Wars has some more great new series premiering this week, including one of the titles that at the top of every staff member’s list, Old Man Logan #1.
Based on one of the best Wolverine Stories of all time (If you’ve haven’t read the graphic novel yet, pick it up. It’s my favorite Wolverine story period) and this time out it’s written by Brian Bendis with art by Andrea Sorrentino, who was the artist on Jeff Lemire’s Green Arrow run. This is the one Secret Wars title you have to pick up.
Another stand out this week is Infinity Gauntlet #1.
Written by Deadpool’s Gerry Duggan and setting the table for cosmic storylines to come.
Other new Secret Wars titles this week include:
- Inferno #1 (the classic X-Men storyline)
- Inhumans Attilan Rising #1 (Medusa crosses Battleworld borders)
- MODOK Assassin #1 (uh, MODOK!)
- Secret Wars 2099 #1 (the heroes of 2099 by Peter David)
- Secret Wars Journal #1 (Lade Kate, the Hawkeye of 1602)
- Where Monsters Dwell #1 (GARTH ENNIS!)
Convergence
This week is the final issue of DC Convergence #8.
We’ll get to see how the new DC Universe looks and the final issues of the two part mini series are out this week to, all with eight pages of additional material to set the stage for next week’s Divergence, which is really just a blanket name DC has given the titles in it’s new universe.
Sandman Overture #5 finally comes out this week.
We will see the end of Neal Gaiman’s prequel at some point in our lifetime apparently. Every issue really has been worth the wait though.
lastly, we’d be remiss if we didn’t show a picture of the new Harley Quinn Roller Derby Action Figure from DC Direct.
Only $24.95 and we’ll have a new Poison Ivy Figure to go with it.
That’s it for this week. We’ll also have a new give away book with previews of the new June Secret Wars titles. Personally I’m giving every new Secret Wars title a shot, and they’ve got one issue to impress me with. Remember, only read what you enjoy! It’s better for you and the shop. Peace, and we’ll see you this week at the shop.
