New Comic Releases for Wednesday April 23rd
Only two weeks until Free Comic Book Day 2014! But we’re addressing that in another post here on the site! For now, here’s your new comic book highlights for the week of April 23rd, 2014!
First up is the beginning of Marvel’s New Summer Epic with Original Sin #0!
Setting the stage for the new 8 issue mini series by Jason Aaron and Mike Deodato is this prequel zero issue by Mark Waid (Daredevil) and Jim Cheung (Young Avengers)! Learn a little bit more about The Watcher’s background before he is killed off In Original Sin #1! The Watcher has held a key positions as the keeper of Marvel secrets since Galactus and the Silver Surfer first popped up in Fantastic Four in the 60”s. Original Sin will follow the murder mystery behind the Watcher’s death as we learn “WHAT DID HE SEE?!”
Next up, the Guardians get the double-sized issue special with Guardians of The Galaxy #14
The amazing Nick Bradshaw takes over as artist as new members Captain Marvel and Venom join the Team! Bendis is still writing and the team who reinvented the GotG, Abnett and Lanning, provide a couple back up stories. Through creative math Marvel has determined this is the 100 issue of GotG and has decided to celebrate! Learn the new 52 origins of some of DC greatest heroes in the new Secret Origins series!
This extra sized first issue contains the origin of Superman, Supergirl and Dick Grayson’s Robin! I used to study this book back when it came out in the 70’s!
Also from DC is the new Justice League United #0! (it’s a big week for prequel’s I guess!)
In the aftermath of Forever Evil, Justice League Canada is born! (Don’t worry, Forever Evil #7 is not out yet!) A team written by Jeff Lemire with a line up including Adam Strange and Green Arrow can’t be all that bad, even if they are based in Canada.
Back to All New Marvel NOW for another powerful female character with the return of Elektra!
Mike Del Mundo has provided some pretty trippy interiors for this book, well worth a flip through at the new comic book table!
Since the Godzilla movie is only a few weeks away on May 16th, we thought we’d remind you about Godzilla Rulers Of The Earth #11!

After a spectacular season finale, we’re here to remind you about Walking Dead #126!
Last months issue was blow away, and this week’s is the final part of the “ALL OUT WAR” Storyline! Just a reminder that we ALWAYS keep all 20 volumes of the Walking Dead graphic novels in stock, so stay out of those creepy big box stores when you catch that Walking Dead bug!
