Free Comic Book Day Rumblings and New Release for the week of April 16th at CNJComics
Free Comic Book Day is only 18 days away! We’ll share some of the preliminary information about the day with you, how you can help out and get ready, along with the usual list of weekly recommendations! So let’s get going…
First up is the final issue of Superior Spider-Man, issue #31!
Series finale! Peter Parker’s back! Green Goblin’s Unmasked! Paving the way for Amazing Spider-Man #1 which just happening to be the big book coming out for Free Comic Book Day!
There’s also some snazzy cover price variants, including one by J Scott Campbell!
Superior’s over, but the Hulk’s just getting warmed up with Hulk #1!
A ‘new season’ of Hulk starts here with BANNER DOA by Mark Waid and new artist Mark Bagley (Ultimate Spider-Man).
Over at DC Sinestro gets a new ongoing series with Sinestro #1!
Written by Cullen Bunn, Green Lantern’s mentor, arch enemy and sometimes alley hits the spotlight and tries to reclaim the Yellow Lantern Corps!
D.E. starts a new all ages four issue mini series with Captain Action Cat #1!
The dream team of Art and Franco return to team up Action Cat from Awe Yeah Comics with CAPTAIN Action Cat, based on the old Captain Action Comics. Art and Franco books are always worth the money, and they’ve brought us such memorable books as Superman Adventures and Tiny Titans. Awe Yeah!
And finally, if you’ve found it impossible to keep up with all the reprints of the single issues, the Sex Criminals Graphic Novel is finally here! (It’s not as dirty as it sounds!)

Okay, let’s get down to the early Free Comic Book Day stuff! Here’s a link to the ever growing FCBD info page on our website:
It’s pretty sparse now but it won’t be for long. Check back regularly for more details to be revealed.
At this point here’s what you can do to start getting ready!
- Do your Research! Check out the books that will be available at www.freecomicbookday.com!
- Make plans to go see Amazing Spider-Man 2 to get yourself jazzed up! It comes out the day before FCBD for a reason!
- Plan to get to the events early for the best possible experience and selection! (people always ask me when the line starts to form. Strangely this is the one the I have absolutely no control over)
- Get your costume ready! Dress for success! At the midnight party and early on Saturday morning it seems like everybody dresses up. There’s no way you can feel like a weirdo. At the very least wear some flair and show your colors!
- Bring a friend! Plan a family outing! Free Comic Book Day works best when shared. This is the day to share your hobby with a newbie.
- Spread the word by blogging, posting and sharing your FCBD plans! Please use this image on your chosen form of social media!
- Start charging your cell phone, the worst thing that can happen at FCBD is you run out of power on your camera.
Haven’t been to a Drink and Draw Event yet? Stop by Lava Lounge this Thursday April 17th between 7pm and 10pm where one of the challenges will be creating HYDRA artwork that will be on display in the bar area at Free Comic Book Day!
Can’t make it to the event but would like to strut your stuff? Stop by the shop and pick up a sketch cover. Return it by April 30th with your name and contact URL on it and it will also be on display at the bar for all to see! Try and throw some classic Hydra green and yellow on their for the best effect!
