New Comic Releases for the Week of 5-28-14

We’ve got some really fun images and product to share and showcase this week!

Here’s some featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, May 28th!

First up is a blast from the past, Thanos Annual #1!

Thanos_Annual_1

Not only do you have Thanos going up against Mephisto in this self contained story, it’s also written and drawn by the original team from Infinity Gauntlet and Thanos Quest, Jim Starlin and Rom Lim! We’ll have Lim and Starlin variants for this book on sale for cover price when the shop opens up at noon.

It’s a Guardians of The Galaxy kind of week, as the energy from the new trailer gets us even more excited for 8-1-2014!

We just wanted a reason to link to the new trailer this week: http://youtu.be/2LIQ2-PZBC8 ! (so excited. That raccoon is a winner)

But other than that you’ve got Guardians of The Galaxy #15 by Brian Bendis and Nick Bradshaw, Marvels Guardians of The Galaxy Prelude #2 (of 2) by Abnett and Lanning, and the new GOTG Graphic Novel The Trial Of Jean Grey!

DC’s got a book this week I’ve been waiting for for months, Aquaman #31!

Aquaman_31

We finally get to see the fight between Aquaman and swamp Thing. With one being a plant elemental and the other being King of The Seas, I can’t believe this ecological encounter has never occurred before.

In the wake of Forever Evil #7 (which I loved), is the final issue of Nightwing #30!

Decisions are made about what’s in store for Dick Grayson as the title becomes GRAYSON next month. Interesting stuff going on here.

Image has a strong lead book this week, with Warren Ellis’s Trees #1!

Trees_1

Ten years after they landed. All over the world. And they did nothing, standing on the surface of the Earth like trees, exerting their silent pressure on the world, as if there were no-one here and nothing under foot. Ten years since we learned that there is intelligent life in the universe, but that they did not recognize us as intelligent or alive.

We have tons of preorders in for this book and looks to be a winner straight out of the gate.

One more fun periodical from Image this week is C.O.W.L. #1!

COWL

Welcome to the “Chicago Organized Workers League”-the world’s first Super-Hero Labor Union! While C.O.W.L. once stood as a beacon of hope against an epidemic of organized crime and an unbeatable “brotherhood” of Super-Villains, the union now faces its fiercest foe yet-a disillusioned public. In targeting the last of the great villains, C.O.W.L. attempts to prove its value to the world and to each other, while staving off villainy from both outside and inside its offices.

Image has a great graphic novel out this week too, with Rick Remender’s Black Science Volume One!

Black_Science_GN_Volume_One

Anarchist scientist Grant McKay has done the impossible! Using the Pillar, he has punched a hole through the barriers between dimensions, allowing travel to all possible universes. But now Grant and his team are trapped in the folds of infinity, the Pillar sending them careening through a million universes of unimaginable adventure, sanity-flaying danger and no way home…

You’ve probably heard us mention this book alot. It’s a beautifully illustrated deconstruction of the “Science Family” Arch-type. The first six issues are collected for only $9.99!
