New Comic Releases for the Week of 11-12-14

Black3It’s a great week to be a Marvel Zombie, as Marvel steals the show with this weeks featured new releases.

First up is Sam Wilson as the All New Captain America!

All_New_Captain_America1The Falcon takes over as Captain America in this new ongoing from Rick Remender. Looks like Hydra’s going to throw a lot at our guy right from the start too.

Tony Stark goes back to being his old arrogant self again in Superior Iron Man #1!

Superior_Iron_Man_1After watching his successful run on Earth 2 over at DC, Marvel has picked up Tom Taylor to write the new Iron Man series. Flipped on his Axis, Tony’s confidence is high, which immediately puts him at odds with Daredevil philosophically. (Think an Iron Man Daredevil match up is weird? Not really. Daredevil #7 in the 60’s featured a Namor/ DD fight that is Marvel legend)

With just one issue and the right amount of PR, Thor has jumped to the top of Marvel’s charts.

Thor_2Jason Aaron stirred things up with the addition of a new female Thor, and it was an overwhelming success.

It’ll be fun to not only see these new versions of the big three in action, but to see them bounce off each other in the months to come in Axis! All three of the above books will have plenty of variants, many hitting the table at cover price at noon this Wednesday.

Marvel’s not done with you yet, Spider-Verse #1 is out this week too.

Spider-Verse_1This $4.99 anthology book looks fantastic from the outside. A Steampunk Spider-Woman? A manga Spider-Man by Skottie Young? An all new Spider-Man character by Katie Cook?! (I even heard the Spider-Man from the old Hostess adds will be showing up in Spider-Verse at some point.) Last week’s Spider-Verse Team Up #1 sold out immediately last week but we’ll be getting more of that in this week too.

Still not enough? Sam takew over leadership of the Mighty Avengers in Captain America and the Mighty Avengers #1.

Captain_America_and_the_Mighty_Avengers_1Who will be one The Falcon’s new team and what will their mission even be?

Let’s give DC a little room this week too, as we draw attention to New 52 Future’s End #28.

Future's_End_28It’s Batman verse Batman Beyond! With the announcement of DC’s Convergence this spring, more people have been hoping onto this weekly, (and the Earth 2 World’s End weekly) as it’s supposed to culminate into that event. You might want to keep your eye on Multiversity too. More on that here!

The hope is that after the release of Convergence DC will give their creative teams more freedom, so that we can get more books like Batgirl out of them. (Also coming out this week>

Batgirl_36Okay, we screwed up last month and didn’t order enough copies of Wytches #1.

Wytches_2Scott Synder’s new ‘In The Woods” horror story from Image sold out at a distributor level before it was even released. This week we’ve got issue two right next to second prints of #1 to catch you up. (we should have known to order a ton after Snyder’s hit with The Wake. Sorry)

Finally we have one of those ‘Only in Comics’ moments as Matt Wagner and Quentin Tarantino give us a Django Zorro crossover!

Django_Zorro_1Quentin himself is actually co-writing this epic crossover, as Django and Zorro meet on the common ground of freeing people of all colors from slavery. Really cool stuff.

That’s it for this week! Be sure to mark your calender for out Black Friday Sale! It’s our longest running tradition and our biggest sale of the year. We believe in family first on Thanksgiving so our event starts at 7pm on Friday and lasts until midnight. This system also gives our customers who work retail a place to go and unwind after the insanity of the day.

Peace, and we’ll see you soon at the shop!
