Black Friday and Small Business Saturday
We will be closed on Thanksgiving Day so our staff can enjoy the holidays with their families. We will reopen on Friday for a weekend long sale, and our longest running shop event, our Anti Black Friday Sale!
On Friday November 24th from 7pm to midnight we’ll be having our annual (anti) Black Friday Sale. There will also be and ongoing sale throughout the weekend, but nothing as massive as 7pm to midnight.
For this sale we open up our back room and the foyer with over 70,000 comic books at $1.00 each. (Buy 100 or more and the price drops to .50 cents each) This year we will have the books in some semblance of an order to make your shopping easier, with books divided into Marvel, DC, Small Press and DC New 52. There’s even stuff form new collections we’ve purchased that we haven’t even cherry picked yet.
Also that night:
- 20% off all Graphic Novels and Hardcovers
- 50% off all Back Issues
- 20% off the New Comic Wall
- 20% off Statues and Action Figures and Pop Fun’s
- Dis
count Graphic Novel Bins will be just $2.00 each. (We need to clear out space for some new stuff.) - 10% off EVERYTHING else in the shop. (you know, stuff that’s never on sale, like supplies, pub glasses and comic book supplies.)
And most importantly…
THE RAFFLES! The cornerstone of keeping you in the shop longer than you’d like!
We’ll be raffling off 50 Graphic Novels at a rate of five every half hour starting at 7:30pm. We will also raffle off a $100 Omnibus every half hour as well! These graphic novels have been hand picked by us and are all good stories!
You get a raffle ticket for every 10 dollars you spend and the tickets stay in there all night long. YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN! Tickets are non transferable and you can win up to three times.
At midnight we raffle off a $100 gift certificate. You must also be present to win that. Lots of people head out for a few hours and return at midnight for a chance to win. (People shop, then shuttle back and forth between our shop Working Class Brewery and Red Lantern every half hour.)
We’ll also provide snacks and pop during the night, and word is a couple of those drinks may be adult beverages as the night move on.
This is really a fun way to do some shopping on Black Friday, and since everyone is on the same page it works pretty well. Great conversations, great deals. It’s a fun night, as anyone who’s been. We’ve been doing it like this for 20 years!
SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY
The day after that is Small Business Saturday, and we’ve even had local artist Jessica Mellen
Our hopes are that you make the effort to shop somewhere local on Saturday, even if it’s not with us. Please use this image on your social media thread with the tags #smallbizsat #shopsmall and #cnjcomics to remind people of the importance of the day and what a small business represents to the community. We’ll be handing out the print all week, including at the (anti) Black Friday Event. You can even take a picture with the print to show people that you in fact have shopped local this holiday season. We’ll be checking the hashtags on Sunday and one lucky poster will win an Uncanny X-Men Omnibus, collecting the first 40 issues of the Claremont, Cockrum and Byrne run! SHOP SMALL AND FEED THE CAT!
We will continue the sale on a smaller scale all weekend , including Saturday an Sunday, as well as during the day on Friday before 7pm.
