Featured New Releases for 1-1-2020 at CNJComics

Welcome to 2020!

New Releases – Marvel

Here’s the featured new releases for Wednesday, January 1st, 2020! (yes, we are open on January 1st for new comic book day.)

Marvel starts out the year with two big books, Star Wars #1 and Thor #1!

Up until now, the modern Marvel Star Wars comics have all been post ‘A New Hope.’ Starting with this new number one, Charles Soule takes us into the world after Empire Strikes Back!

We have a lithograph to go with each purchase of the book.

We also have a special New Year’s treat. We recently had an opportunity to buy up liquidated copies of one of the staff’s favorite Star Wars stories, Vader Down!

Jason Aaron And Kieron Gillen pit Vader on his own against the entire rebel fleet. This book really showed what a bad-ass Vader was.

This book regularly sells for $19.99 but we’ll be selling them for only $4.00! That’s a full graphic novel for less than the cost of a comic book. (Start your year off with a great story!)

Second, is Donny Cates’ new THOR #1!

Thor rules Asgard now, and the Black Winter is coming!

This book also has a promo item we’ll be giving away free with a purchase of the book, a set of Thor trading cards.

Oh yeah, one more book from Marvel. Clint Barton returns in an all new Hawkeye ongoing series by Matthew Rosenberg.

There’s a new Ronin in town, and Clint’s not quite sure who it is. The Hood returns as well!

New Releases – DC

For Wonder Woman fans, DC has two new original graphic novels (ogn’s!), one for young readers and one for teens.

Diana Princess of the Amazons is a young reader book for ages 10 and under. (DC used to market these books as ZOOM but I guess they re-branded. Again.)

“From New York Times bestselling authors Shannon Hale (Princess Academy) and Dean Hale and artist Victoria Ying comes a heartfelt story about making mistakes, learning the hard way, and growing up to become a hero.”

I honestly can’t say enough good things about these books. My eight year old loves them, and they’ve really been helping with her reading. I feel like the ZOOM books are the first comics she really loves, and it’s because she can read them on her own.

Wonder Woman Warbringer is an ogn for teenage readers, but really accessible to anyone. (These books were formerly branded as INK books.)

“Based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Leigh Bardugo, this graphic novel adaptation from Louise Simonson and Kit Seaton brings to life Diana’s first adventure beyond the hidden shores of Themyscira.”

That’s it for this week! Thanks again to everyone for making 2019 such an amazing year. We’ve got lots coming up in 2020, with our 30th anniversary on the horizon, expect a lot of special stuff to be going on. (Like Chris Claremont on FCBD!)
