Free Comic Book Day 2023 at CNJComics

Free Comic Book Day is coming on Saturday, May 6th, from 10 am to 7 pm!

Yes, this is our 22nd time hosting this event!

Everyone attending will get to pick out 12 comic books from the 46 that are being offered! (12 Gold titles, 31 Silver titles, and 3 DC titles.)

We’ll be using the same space we normally use in an empty storefront in the plaza 150 feet from our storefront. (17430 Lorain Ave is the address of the FCBD books, and 17462 is the location of our shop.)

Books this year range from Super-Hero:

to All Ages:

To more adult-oriented Independent fun:

All books have three age ratings, Green for All-Ages, Blue for Teens (meaning 13+, but typically meaning nothing too objectionable), and Red for Mature (meaning 18+). We keep the books in groups by color, with the red ones at the very end of the line, so parents keep a lookout. We have over 20,000 books to give away, but as always, we recommend coming early for the best selection.

You can check out all the books (and their age ratings” here!  (This is also a good resource to answer all your FCBD questions at a national level.)

Oh yeah! The first 500 people through the door will also get a free graphic novel! You get to pick from several so another good reason to get in line early!

This year’s Free Comic Book Day Poster is an homage to Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1, the debut of the Sinister Six.

Jameson took some liberties with Ditko’s artwork and made it more Cleveland-centric. As with last year, this year’s poster will be FREE with any purchase, and we should have them in at the end of next week. (If you know somewhere that would hang up a poster to help promote the event, let us know, and we’ll give you an extra!)

Jameson will be handing out and

signing copies of the print from 10 am till noon on the day of the event!

We will have a local pop culture vendor space in the Free Comic Book Day room just as we did last year. (which we all thought was a really fun addition to the event.)

We’ll have some photo backdrops ups for cool photo ops, and Laura Wimbels will be walking around getting pictures of everyone. We’ll also set the kids play area up in the foyer next to the shop!

We will also be providing support for several library systems to host a FCBD event, like Westlake, Rocky River, a few Cleveland Branches, and Mike Pawuk’s big event at the Cuyahoga County Brooklyn Branch.

There’s more info to come, but we thought we’d get this out there for a ‘Save the Date” placeholder. While we do not have an out-of-town guest for FCBD this year, we will have a few in the shop before the year is out, so keep an eye out for that!

Luna is jazzed and ready for Free Comic Book Day 2023! See you there!
