Free Comic Book Day Updates at CNJComics
It’s time for a couple of updates to the info we’ve already sent out! First up and most importantly, we got this year’s Free Comic Book Day lithographs in!
Inspired by Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 (featuring the first appearance of the Sinister Six) and designed by Jameson Campbell! The printer made an error and we received our order on poster paper instead of 14-point cardstock, but that error has since been corrected. Prints are free with any purchase and you can pick yours up now at the shop! You can even take an extra poster print if you’d like to hang it up somewhere to promote the event. The good news is we’ll have the poster prints to give away on the day if we run out of cardstock. (which did happen early last year!) As stated before Jameson will be signing prints from 10 am to noon on Free Comic Book Day.
We’re also happy to report that we’ve gotten all of our free comic book shipments in and we’re ready to go. No major shortages of any kind so if you come early enough you should be able to get the exact twelve books that you’re looking for.
The first 500 people in line also get to pick out a graphic novel before entering the free comic book pit.
We’re excited to say that the Rust Belt Monster Collective will be out again to paint a mural live outside the shop!
To continue the theme from this year’s lithograph, the mural will be “Spider-Man and the Sinister Six!” (why is that our theme? I don’t know, I’ve just always loved those six dirtbags, and who doesn’t love Spider-Man?)
As in some years past, we’ve decided to give 50% off all back issues all weekend. So, you can take 50% off from Friday, May 5th to Sunday, May 7th.
That way you can shop on Friday and Sunday if you want, without any distractions from the masses. (On Sunday we also give out the leftover free comic books, but there really wasn’t much left last year.)
We’re also stoked that we’ve got a full Vendor Space this year. Last year was our first shift to creating a pop culture vending space, it worked out really great. You’ll get to meet a lot of local creators and makers, and engage your local community after you’ve gotten your free books!
Here’s a list of who we’ve got setting up:
Chod (Chad Kimes)
Quill Kolat
Rick Sans
Sergio Andujar II
Sleepy Robot
Tangled Earth Arts
Perris MacKey
Katie Avila
Reegeeked/Nerdy Girl Cosplay
Ashley Ribblett
Brian Gleine
Ryan Kacsandy
Kawaii Killjoy
Heather Curtiss
Jeff Ritchie
Randy Crider
Sean Burns
Kristen Burns
Cory Holliday
Phil Fried
Angela Oster
We’ll get you some vendor bio’s in our next email, but it’s a pretty fun lineup that I look forward to wandering through with the family. Since we have a full vendor space, we’ve decided to move the kid’s space into the foyer next to the comic shop. (which will actually be accessed through the comic shop this year.) If the kids need to chill out for a bit after waiting in line this is the place to go.
Finally, here’s a little image you can share on your social media if you like:
Alright, everyone! Things are all coming together! See you on May 6th!
