Andrea’s Late “Nights” Picks for 06.19.2024

Hello Comic Shop Friends! We’re still working through those new collections, and John did a rerack video this past Friday and added some new back issues to the new boxes, so stop in and take a look! These books will not be 50% off during Late Nite, so don’t wait! If you see something, grab it before someone else does! These wall books have been going fast!

And speaking of Late Nite Comics, it’s this Thursday the 20th! 8pm to midnight! John won’t be here, so he said we can do whatever we want!

  • All 60+ boxes of dollar stock will be 50 cents each! No qualifiers! Get one, get 20, get 200! 50 cents each!
  • Back issues (except the wall) will be 50% off!
  • We have some used magazine boxes to give away, so fill one with dollar stock for $75!
  • And fill a long box with dollar stock for $100! Feel free to bring your own box too!

Help us clear out this dollar stock so we can make room for new back issues!

MARVEL COMICS

Blood Hunt continues this week with four tie-ins: Black Panther: Blood Hunt #2, Dracula: Blood Hunt #2, Wolverine: Blood Hunt #2, and Doctor Strange #16. We also have “Blood Soaked” second prints for Avengers #14, Blood Hunters #1, Doctor Strange #15, Dracula: Blood Hunt #1, and Vengeance of the Moon Knight #5!

The most anticipated book of the year?! Jason Aaron writes Uncle Scrooge! Scrooge has his most epic adventure yet when his money bin is stolen by the Scrooge-Above-All, and the only way to retrieve it is by a trip through the multiverse! (Good thing there’s a multiverse entry in Huey, Dewey, and Louie’s Junior Woodchuck Guidebook.) Can the multitude of Scrooges work together to stop Scrooge-Above-All from taking every number one dime and becoming the richest duck in all of time and space? Featuring art by Uncle Scrooge artists, Paolo Mottura, Francesco D’Ippolito, Alessandro Pastroviccio and Vitale Mangiatordi, and Giada Perissinotto! And the second half of this one-shot is a reprint of the first appearance of Scrooge McDuck, “Christmas on Bear Mountain,” by Carl Barks!

The darkest web is re-spun as the Venomverse is Reborn! The King in Black will answer “Five Questions” in the continuing story by Al Ewing and Danilo S. Beyruth. Christon Gage and Greg Land pull Venom from the Spider-Man 2 video game’s Earth-1048, and make him “Kiss the Ring” of Knull on Earth-616 during the King in Black’s invasion, but this Venom doesn’t want to submit. Then, in the goopiest, goriest murder story, “Host” from Benjamin Percy and Brian Level, Banner, Hawkeye, and Black Widow have to figure out who killed Captain America. Worth it just for this gross tale!

DC COMICS

Yet another great issue of Wonder Woman. It’s Cheetah versus Wonder Woman. And even though the Wonder Girls promised they’d stay out of her fight, you know they won’t if they can figure out how to work the Invisible Jet. Plus, another adorable backup story with Trinity, Jon, and Damian. Can the boys teach Trinity how to fly a kite? They may need to bring in some help!

SMALL PRESS COMICS

Another great start on the newest G.I. Joe mini-series! The next chapter of the Cobra threat begins here, in Dan Watters and Andrei Bressan’s five-issue mini-series following Destro and M.A.R.S. Industries. The undisputed leader in high-tech weapons finds things are changing with the emergence of Energon, and some new competition in the Crimson Twins, Tomax and Xamot Paoli. Cobra Commander may find his current ally becoming his greatest enemy, as Destro has designs on obtaining all the Energon.

The book everyone should be reading! We already sold three copies of this trade paperback last week just by talking about it. You’ve heard me talk about Nights before, I think last time I said it has everything I want in a comic, but didn’t know I wanted. Writer Wyatt Kennedy and artist Luigi Formisano mix horror, supernatural, 90s nostalgia, teen shenanigans, talking animals, and more (Freddy Freaker! Lightning Fast VCR Repair!) Here’s the description from Image: “It’s 2003, supernatural creatures casually exist amongst humans, and America is made up of 31 states. Vince Okonma has lost his parents, moved in with his secret mercenary cousin and his video game-making roommate, and befriended ‘the greatest vampire who’s ever lived.’ And that’s just the first 20 pages.”

This is the best $10 you can spend in the store, and you are definitely getting your money’s worth because this collects issues #1-6, and there’s a new story set in the past of this alternate Florida that will continue in each new paperback volume! We also reordered issues #7 and #8 so you can get caught up once you read this!
