First, this Thursday the 19th is Late Nite Comics! John’s birthday edition! We’ll stay open until midnight, and starting at 8pm we’ll have the table full of dollar books, and it’s almost completely new dollar stock! Back issues will be 50% off, including the wall!

Second, on Saturday the 21st, we’ll be running an all day back issue sale! 50% off back issues, and a raffle! You’ll get one raffle ticket for every ten dollars you spend, rounded up, and the raffle prizes are in the above picture!

Third, John and Ben will be at the West Side Market on Sunday the 22nd from 10am to 2pm handing out free comics! You can stop by, say hi, and get five free Superman comics!

Also, Saturday the 21st is Batman Day! We’ll have all the Batman Day titles out Saturday. The three pictured above, Wayne Family Adventures, Joker: The World, and Long Halloween, are free giveaways and we have 200 of each to hand out. There are some exclusives for the day, including the Tom King written Elmer Fudd special and a One Bad Day Riddler hardcover! Pick up some Batman while you’re in the shop for half off back issues!

MARVEL COMICS

Get ready to be dazzled! It’s the new Dazzler series from writer Jason Loo and artist Rafael Loureiro! Alison Blaire spent her off-time on Krakoa writing a new album, and now it’s the opening night of her world tour in Los Angeles. Her fans are excited. The anti-mutant hate groups aren’t. Head of security Domino and manager Wind Dancer have prepared Dazzler for whatever may happen, and it’s a good thing they did, because she’s attacked on stage before she can even finish the first song! Can Dazzler and her crew make it through the tour with the protests, the mutant hate, and someone trying to take her out? Find out in the comic concert event of the year! And if you want to see where it all started, we still have the facsimile of Dazzler’s first appearance!

A five-issue mini-series from Sabir Pirzada and Sean Hill bringing together some of the many Spirits of Vengeance! Many have borne the title, and others still stir in the darkest corners of the Marvel Universe. One has been hidden as a scarecrow, forgetting its past. But when some kids awaken it, this Spirit decides it’s time to remember and show its fangs once again. Meanwhile, Johnny Blaze is wrapped up with some Sirens!

Travel back to the ruins of Manhattan for an explosive adventure to celebrate Deathlok’s 50th Anniversary! In a world of tomorrow that has gone wrong, the half-man, half-machine hero has two new stories. “Warning Order” written by Christopher Priest with art by Denys Cowan, and “After Action Review” from writer Justina Irland and artist Carlo Pagulayan, and some interior pages from the Unknown Worlds magazine Luther Manning used to read! With some re-presented pages from Astonishing Tales #35!

DC COMICS

Absolute Power: Super Son #1, Superman #18, and Wonder Woman #13 are the Absolute Power tie-ins from DC this week!

An oversized one-shot written by Sina Grace and Nicole Maines with art by John Timms and Travis Mercer! Jon Kent, with the help of the Amazons, is trying to separate what are actual memories, what was implanted by the Brainiac Queen, what may be a dream, and what may be a living nightmare. He’ll have to reckon with his own past to save his future, leading to a new chapter for the Super Son!

Can Superman and Zatanna make a deal with Neron for the Map of Mordu and travel the Dark Roads in time to get some major back-up? Lex Luthor, Lois Lane, Mercy, Jimmy, and Silver Banshee are on the run from the superpowered Amazos, and are searching for Superman! With a cliffhanger that impacts the future of the Superman titles! Written by Joshua Williamson with art by Jamal Campbell.

Another excellent Wonder Woman issue! The last of the Absolute Power tie-in issues for Wonder Woman, with Diana and Damian locating the jailed superheroes. Steve Trevor and Diana are reunited! “Gross.” There’s fighting, and kissing, and a back-up story with the origin of Trinity! Written by Tom King with art by Tony S. Daniel and Khary Randolph.

The big thing this week though is the new worldwide anthology, Joker: The World! Gotham’s Clown Prince of Crime goes global with stories by creative teams from thirteen different countries, showcasing how Joker has inspired chaos all over the world! What does The Joker do when on holiday in Spain? How has he inspired others to follow in his footsteps, creating Joker duplicates in Germany and Turkey? How does a Joker in Cameroon find inspiration? This first story is a direct continuation of the Three Jokers series too!

SMALL PRESS COMICS

Six months ago, Penny was taken. Her parents, Sam and Duncan, will do anything to bring her back before she’s gone forever, including fighting alongside magical beings like a cigar-smoking frog and a black-market arms dealer bat creature. They’ll do whatever it takes to bring Penny back home from the evil force, Cascade, even if it means losing themselves along the way. I don’t want to give too much away, but this ten-issue series is co-created by Daniel Warren Johnson and Riley Rossmo, with art by both, so if you’re fans of either of them, grab this book. It’s also giving off strong Saga vibes, with an original fantasy/action setting and family dynamics, so give it a shot if you like that!

You know it’s Halloween time when R. L. Stine has a new book! The Graveyard Club is a coming-of-age horror series, with art by Carola Borelli, set in the sleepy town of Graves End. A group of five teens spend their time in a graveyard, as there’s not much else to do in Graves End since it’s surrounded by cemeteries and everything closes by 6. Getting hassled by the local cop, and bullied by his son, leads the kids into a prank war with the two, but things become increasingly more gruesome. There’s no shortage of mysterious disappearances and secrets in a town where there are more dead than living. There’s a contained story in this first oversized issue, and the mystery surrounding the town will continue when the series returns in April.

If you haven’t been paying attention to the multitude of times we all told you that you should be reading Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, you’re in luck! The trade paperback is out this week! This is the one book you should pick up, and it’s a perfect Autumn read to lead you into the Halloween season. It’s both the cutest and the most disturbing title in the shop! Created by writer and artist Patrick Horvath, who we can’t wait to see more of!

Another great creepy mini-series is collected this week: Principles of Necromancy! Writing duo Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing, with artist Eamon Winkle, have created a macabre body horror mini-series. Physician Dr. Jakob Eyes uses arcane remedies to perform gruesome miracles as he travels a kingdom waging an endless war. There’s no shortage of bodies for him to experiment with as he tries to achieve his ultimate goal, overcoming death itself.
