Andrea’s Fast Picks for 03.19.2025

Hi Comic Shop Friends! We have a bunch happening the next couple weeks!

Late Nite Comics! This Thursday the 20th! 8pm to midnight! Tons of dollar stock! 50% off back issues! Including the wall! Grab 100 or more dollar books and they’re only 50 cents each!

And if you miss Late Nite, you have the whole weekend to get 50% off back issues! And 10% off everything else in the shop! (That’s not already discounted.) It’s our annual Wizard World/FanExpo sale, so if you’re not downtown at the con, stop in and shop the sale. Starts Friday the 21st and runs through Sunday the 22nd!

Then on Sunday the 30th from 4pm to 6pm, Matthew Rosenberg and Tyler Boss will be in the shop for a free signing!  John ordered more of their individual and co-created work, so we have a display on the counter and added a row of their books to the Rec Wall! We’ll also have copies of each of their new titles, We’re Taking Everyone Down with Us and You’ll Do Bad Things, to give out for free at the signing. Add them to your pull list too! The advance copies we got to read are amazing.

MARVEL COMICS

How can Earth’s mightiest heroes convince the world that Doctor Doom is not what he seems? Especially when Doom is giving the people what they need to thrive. The Avengers have already failed to overthrow him, but the Fantastic Four know Doom better than anyone, and are ready to face him. But Doom knows them just as well. Meeting in secret with Valeria Richards, Doom reveals the truth behind his United Latveria. Is her favor with Doom enough to change his mind? Will what Valeria learns change the course of the Fantastic Four’s plans? What will the Avengers have to do to turn the tide?

Have you ever wanted to see the legendary Wolverine and Hulk fight in 3-D? Now’s your chance! It’s the full 3-D reprint on Incredible Hulk #340! Polybagged with your very own pair of 3-D glasses!

DC COMICS

What a way to wrap up a story arc! Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta close up “The Zoo”, as Batman has to finally stop the Party Animals from expanding and running amuck in Gotham. But what he doesn’t know is that his mom and Gordon are right in the middle of it…

And with the first story arcs ending with the first three DC Absolute titles, it’s the perfect time to give the next three a shot! Starting with Absolute Flash this week!

Jeff Lemire and Nick Robles speed into the Absolute Universe! It’s a new take on Wally West, with time traveling (maybe?) or some sort of time distortion (maybe?). Without a mentor, without a Flash family, without the Speed Force… who is Wally West? A military brat with a distant father, a dead mother, and anxiety, this teen Wally has been shuffled from military base to military base. He doesn’t have friends, but Dr. Barry Allen sees something in the kid and shows Wally around the secret project Allen and Colonel West are working on. We’re thrown into a mystery, with Wally on the run, a gallery of rogues after him, and no idea how he got that super speed!

Speaking of speed… Gotta go fast! It’s the DC X Sonic the Hedgehog crossover! Darkseid has invaded Sonic’s world, seeking the ultimate power. The forces of Apokolips may be too much for Sonic and his friends to handle, so good thing the Justice League has shown up to help! Sonic and Flash! Shadow and Batman! Knuckles and Superman! Tails and Cyclops! Silver and Green Lantern! Amy Rose and Wonder Woman! They’ll all have to work together to take down Darkseid! Written by Ian Flynn, with art by Adam Bryce Thomas.

SMALL PRESS COMICS

If you only pick up one book this week, this should be it, because 100% of the profits will be donated to California wildfire relief efforts, and to support comic creators who lost homes in the fires.

There is a massive list of creators, with a different writer and artist team on each page, with a few multi-page stories. It’s a beautiful and touching way to showcase the city, the tragedy, their personal stories, and what Los Angeles means to these creators.

Featuring contributions from Barbara Kessel, Brian Azzarello, Brian Michael Bendis, Christos Gage, Dan DiDio, Daniel Kibblesmith, Frank Tieri, Greg Pak, Jimmy Palmiotti, Jody Houser, Marv Wolfman, Paul Cornell, Rob DenBleyker, Sina Grace, Stephanie Phillips, Steve Orlando, Alex Cormack, Alison Sampson, Amanda Conner, Christian Ward, Geraldo Borges, Ian Churchill, Michael Avon Oeming, Nico Leon, Rian Gonzales, Salvador Larroca, Sami Kivelä, and many, many more.
