Andrea’s Resurrection Picks for 04.02.2025

Happy April, Comic Shop Friends! We were going to do an April Fool’s Day joke and tell you there were no new comics this week after last Wednesday’s massive day, but you wouldn’t have believed us. And there are some excellent books you need to pick up this week!

First, thank you to everyone who came out this past Sunday for the Matthew Rosenberg and Tyler Boss signing!

We had an incredibly successful event, and were busy for the entire two hours. They mentioned how awesome our customers were so thank you for making us look good in front of the talent!

Get ready for the Summer of Superman with Superman Day on Wednesday, April 9th. We’ll have three free books to give out, Jimmy Olsen’s Supercyclopedia, Superman for All Seasons #1, and All-Star Superman #1. There are a few exclusives releasing that day as well, like the Golden Age sized facsimile of Action Comics #1!

Mark your calendars for April’s Late Nite Comics happening on Thursday the 17th from 8pm to midnight! And for Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 3rd! More details coming soon!

Charles Soule and Steve McNiven have created a Daredevil mini-series that, if the first issue is any indication, will end up being a classic Daredevil story. Matthew Murdock is old, his powers are gone, but he’s still helping those who need it in Hell’s Kitchen. Running a soup kitchen and shelter, he’s following what he believes is God’s plan for him. But when an explosion in a subway station fills the neighborhood with a lethal gas, Murdock learns God may have another plan for him.

DC COMICS

The sixth new Absolute title is a sci-fi and horror take on the Green Lanterns you’re familiar with, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Jo Mullein, but with a much darker origin. When the Green Lantern symbol mysteriously lands on, yes, on a small Nevada town, it begins a series of events for friends Hal, John, and Jo as they witness something devastating. Hal becomes infected with something he cannot control Without the Corps, without the ring, without the willpower, what is the Green Lantern? Written by Al Ewing, with art by Jahnoy Lindsay.

“What was this land of surreal horror where Sol had stranded me? I would come to learn… it was a place called Kansas.” Jason Aaron and Carmine Di Giandomenico reveal the secret origin of Superman on Earth! They also reveal some details about where the next story arc is heading with Lazarus. This series continues to build the mythology behind Absolute Superman, and it’s well worth reading if you haven’t so far.

Resurrected once again, Resurrection Man Mitch Shelly returns with a new purpose and power. After living a full life to its natural conclusion, Mitch meets another version of himself who reveals that he must save the universe. Writer Ram V and artist Anand RK pit Resurrection Man against a monster of his own creation, a sadistic WWII internment camp commander who has a twisted version of the same powers. With each death, a new superpower is attained upon rebirth, and now the lines of cosmic order are beginning to blur. Whatever the cause, whatever the consequence, this much is true… he’s dying to save you! Give this mini-series a shot, the art is beautiful, the story pulls you in, and we are all new Resurrection Man fans after this first issue. I read it, handed it to Ben to read when I finished, and he handed it right to John Shearer when he was done.

But Rennie has a secret, and her all-natural fabrics aren’t really ethically sourced. Can she control her murderous urges to become a fashion designer? Nope! But it’ll probably thin out the competition! From Doug Wagner and Daniel Hillyard.
