Andrea’s Biggest Week of Picks for 03.26.2025
Hello Comic Shop Friends! Welcome to the biggest new comic book week the shop has seen in, at least, over fifteen years! It’s a doozy, and there are so many excellent books out this week! I’ll try to get as many as I can in this newsletter, but this is the week to come in the shop and peruse the new comic table!
This Sunday, the 30th! From 4pm to 6pm! Matthew Rosenberg and Tyler Boss will be here for a free signing! We’ll have copies of each of their new #1s, We’re Taking Everyone Down with Us and You’ll Do Bad Things, to give out so you can get them signed. Check out the display on the counter and the Rosenberg and Boss Rec Wall row for more great stories from them!
Because this week is so huge and one of our shipments came Tuesday morning, I didn’t get to read everything like I usually do, so there are some synopses for the books below.

DC COMICS
Of this next batch of Absolute titles, this is the one I was most excited about! It does not disappoint. I only got a chance to read a preview pdf, so the physical version will look even more amazing, and there’s a special page that only works with the paper copy. It’s a psychedelic mind trip beyond physical form, beyond human understanding! It’s the ultimate alien, Absolute Martian Manhunter! From Deniz Camp and Javier Rodriguez.
What do I need to say? It’s Hush 2, you’re gonna get it if you loved Hush. Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee present the hotly anticipated sequel to that smash-hit storyline. I don’t really need to sell you that hard on it! Hush returns!
Here’s how you know how much this huge week threw us off, I didn’t even get to read Absolute Wonder Woman yet! Witness the shocking origin of Diana’s deadly weapons! Diana defied the will of the gods in leaving Hell, and Hades, lord of the underworld, takes that personally…but when he interrogates her, her tales surprise him. Will it change her fate? It’s a beautiful week when we get both Absolute Wonder Woman AND Wonder Woman. (And I didn’t have time to read either yet.) Get your Amazonian fix! Diana’s bloody war with the Sovereign reaches an epic conclusion! The Sovereign took away Wonder Woman’s world, and now she has taken away his. As their war reaches its end, the two icons prepare for battle. Who will emerge victorious? Find out as Diana’s quest for peace comes to a bloody end!
SMALL PRESS COMICS
We’ve been talking up the next two because of Rosenberg and Boss coming to the shop! Stop in and meet them this Sunday from 4 pm to 6 pm!
First up, Tyler Boss’s new mini-series is a giallo-esque fictional true crime tale. It’s been ten years since author Seth Holms’ book about the Nursery Rhyme Killer became a hit, and he’s still trying to write another title. Something with a happy ending this time. But each new story he tries to create ends in death. And that death is spilling into reality. Who is behind these fictional murders becoming real? Could it be Holms? Could the Nursery Rhyme Killer still be at large? Who is the masked, black gloved killer? A great horror story start from Boss, with art by Adriano Turtuluci.
Then, Matthew Rosenberg has a double sized first issue of a mini-series that we’ve been describing as James Bond meets Venture Bros meets teen drama. This explosive issue introduces 13-year-old Annalise, her robot bodyguards/companions, and her mad scientist father. And the most drugged up secret agent you’ll ever see! And you see all of him! Join Annalise on a journey of regret and retribution, super spies and pseudoscience, growing up and global domination. With art by Stefano Landini.
Do you love Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees? Do you want to see what Patrick Horvath does with humans? Do you want to see billionaires fight to the death because they’ve hoarded wealth? I sure the hell do! Luckily, the guys got preview copies at ComicsPro, so I got to read it early, and it is amazing and everything I wanted in this beautiful 56 page one-shot about a brutal vision of capitalism by combat. In the future, the World Finance League exists to benefit all, randomly choosing those from among the billionaires and trillionaires of the world and presenting them with a choice: either donate half of their assets to the common good—or defend them in ritual combat. Reigning champion and real estate magnate Ted Brooks has 22 victories under his belt—defending the wealth he schemed and stabbed to get—when he is forced to face his ex-wife, Luella Dominguez, in a fight to the death. Luella has been training, waiting for this moment. But will she have what it takes to defeat the man who would do anything—absolutely anything—to keep his fortune?
And good thing Image sent us a pdf preview of the new Universal Monster title, The Mummy, early so I could check out issue #1! Writer and artist Faith Erin Hicks presents a stunning new vision of the legacy of the Mummy. Helen Grosvenor is a woman born to two worlds and belonging in neither, forever haunted by a cursed encounter as a child. When unknown voices bring her back to an Egyptian dig site from her past, Helen will unknowingly play an unexpected role in the rise of a monster known only as… the Mummy!
