New Comic Books for 2-19-2014 at CNJ Comics!

This week we’ve got no real unifying theme for new releases, so we’re just going to give you some cool images and talk about some books that we’re excited about. Here’s some featured new releases for 2-19-2014!
To go with the weather we’re having this week I thought we’d serve up this cover of Amazing X-Men #4!
Amazing_X-Men_4
  • Wolverine and Northstar are defeated and stranded in… Purgatory?
  • Nightcrawler tries to rally the X-Men to help them and save the after-life from Azazel, but they are outgunned by the demon lord and his hordes!
This fun addition to the X-Titles is written by Jason Aaron (of the just finished up Wolverine and the X-men and countless other amazing stories) and drawn by Ed McGuinness. (Superman Batman, Hulk) That means lots of cool moments with an artist that can back them up.
Next let’s go with Avengers World #3, and a Shang-Chi solo story!
Avenegrs_World_3
  • Shang-Chi vs. The Gorgon– a fight to the death for control of The Hand.
  • 20 straight pages of bone-crushing martial arts action, like you’ve never seen it before.
The jury’s still out on Hickman’s 3rd Avengers book, but any chance to get a full issue of the Master of Kung Fu is alright with us.
All New Marvel NOW gives us a 90’s style blast from the past this week with The New Warriors #1!
New_Warrirors_1
WARRIORS REBORN! Adventurers SPEEDBALL and JUSTICE have come together with a group of young heroes including NOVA, SUN GIRL, and HUMMINGBIRD (and even a couple of new faces) to stop the latest threat to the Marvel Universe-the Atlanteans, Inhumans, clones and hundreds of other so-called “superior” beings are living among the humans of the Marvel Universe, but not everyone is pleased about it. THE HIGH EVOLUTIONARY has raised an army to combat the evolution of humanity – and the New Warriors are locked in his sights!
For fans of Young Avengers and basically anyone who still remembers the old New Warriors, which was a high water mark of the 90’s by my estimation.
Also this week from All New Marvel NOW is Captain America #17, Nova #13, Punisher #2, Savage Wolverine #15 and X-Men #11. There will also be reprints of the sold out All New Marvel Now Point One #1, All New X-Factor #1, and Black Widow #1! Plus new issues of Night of The Living Deadpool, Uncanny X-men and a complete Journey into Mystery Graphic Novel for you Loki fans.
DC’s not sweating it either with Justice League #28 and the reintroduction of the METAL MEN in the new 52!
Justice_LEague_28
“FOREVER EVIL” continues! With the Justice League gone, new heroes continue to rise up throughout the DC Universe! The Crime Syndicate tried to kill him, but now Cyborg is back to settle the score – and with him are The Metal Men!
I can’t say enough how much I enjoy the building story in Geoff John’s Forever Evil and the associated Justice League tie in each month. Plus, the Metal Men are classic 60’s DC at it’s best.
Valentine’s Day may be over, but Harley Quinn’s still breaking our heart in issue #3 of her hit mag.
Harley_Quinn_3
It’s Valentine’s Day, and Harley is getting depressed watching happy couples walk by. Will a special gift from Poison Ivy turn things around for Harley?
Written by the married team of Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiott, this book is a sell out every issue. It’s only $2.99 too. Just a really well done book and a sign of what DC can do when they put their big boy pants on for 5 minutes.
Other big DC books this week are Batman 66 #8, Birds of Prey #28 (gothtopia), Supergirl #28 and Wonder Woman #28. There’s also finally a graphic novel of Batman Lil Gotham Volume one for only $12.99. Hard to go wrong there.
Indie wise this week we’ve got a new #1 from Image, Undertow #1!
undertow
Atlantis is the world superpower, and Redum Anshargal is its worst enemy. If you want to break free of the system, he can offer you a place at his side, exploring the wild surface world in his watertight city barge The Deliverer. He and his hostage-protege Ukinnu Alal hunt the Amphibian, a legend that could be the key to an air-breathing life on land. But as they become the hunted, can Anshargal’s team survive long enough to turn the tables on the godlike beast they set out for?
A brand new pulp monster adventure with Ray Harryhausen at its heart and a look at Atlantis like never before from the up-and-coming team of writer STEVE ORLANDO (Mystery in Space) and artist ARTYOM TRAKHANOV.
This week you can also pick up some really reasonably priced indie graphic novels, like Zero from Image and FBP: Federal Bureau Of Physics Vol 1 from Vertigo both at only $9.99 each.
This week’s final fun Image is a Mr. Potato Head Dalek!
potato_dalek
Man, Doctor Who used to scare the heck out of me as a kid, and now kids are playing with stuff like this. Where’s the fear anymore? 🙂
Anyway, if anything above looks cool to you and you’d like to play catch up, just let a staff member know and we’ll get you up to speed.
Have a great week, the weather’s supposed to break soon, and we’ll see you this week at the comic book shop!
It’s never too early to start thinking about free comic book day!
And for a look at last years awesome events…
Mark you calender, First Saturday in May!
