Captain America Art Show this weekend and more at CNJComics
Well, it’s finally here! Time to get out there and see The Cleve shine in Captain America The Winter Soldier! But why let the fun stop there? Here’s what going on in the world of Captain America this weekend at the comic shop and around town!
First up we’re proud to be a sponsor of the Breakneck Gallery’s “Oh, Captain!” Art Show!
From 6pm to ill 10pm this Saturday we’ll be at Breakneck Gallery in Lakewood (17020 Madison ave) for an artistic celebration of all things Captain America! Over 30 local artists have done their rendition of Captain America and it will all be on display at the opening reception! We’ll be there sponsoring refreshments, bringing out the Factory X Captain America shields for photo ops and handing out 100 FREE Captain America The New Deal Hardcovers to the first people we bump into!
This book has been selected by me personally as one of my favorite Captain America stories of all time, both for John Ney Rieber’s story, and for John Cassaday’s stunning artwork. Set in the aftermath of 9-11, we get a look into Cap’s internal struggle as a World War II soldier learns how to deal with a new type of war, terrorism. A breathtaking book and our gift to everyone for coming out to the show. (If you can’t make it to the show we will have copies on sale at the shop all weekend for $6 each)
This is an all ages event, so we hope you’ll bring the kids out. One of the best things about an event like this is that it helps to develop art appreciation in kids, as the subject material is one they are familiar with. So you can stand there with your kids and discuss why they may like one picture of Cap over another. That’s culture. We’ll have a special free giveaway book for the kids too. Our friends the Rust Belt Monster Art Collective will even be there doing a live mural, so you can watch art actually being created live!
At the shop this week Marvel made sure we were loaded up with product to go with the movie release!
First and foremost we’ll have copies of the Captain America Winter Soldier Graphic Novel and Hardcover that was the basis for the film!
Winter Soldier is a great story and the beginning of Brubaker’s Epic run containing issue 1-9 and 11-14. Softcover runs $24.99 and hardcover $34.99. A very dense read, you’re definitely getting your money’s worth.
If you’d just like to try the book Marvel has released a ‘Director’s Cut” of the first issue this week for only $4.99 and it’s a great way to try the story out with a bunch of extra’s.
Also new this week is Marvel’s Captain America Winter Soldier Art of The Movie Slipcase Hardcover For $49.99!
