New Releases for the Week of 6-10-2015
We’re still trying to keep up with all the new titles from DC Divergence and Secret Wars this week!
Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, June 10th 2015!
Secret Wars
This weeks Secret Wars titles are quite a few that might fall under your radar. We’ve all seen how important the Marvel Zombies zone is in Battleworld, now they’e going to get their own book with Marvel Zombies #1.
Elsa Bloodstone protects the Shield from the zombie hordes, but what happens when she has to actually enter the realm to save a child?
We’re going to get to see all the Ghost Riders together and racing in Ghost Racers #1!
The Ghost Races are one of Battleworld’s top forms of entertainment, but what do you get when you win or lose.
This one especially seems like it could be a sleeper hit, Jason Aaron give of Weirdworld #1.
It’s a reboot of old Marvel 70’s Sword and Sorcery, but what makes it really fun is Aaron’s name attached to it. Imagine it as Thor but going one step farther.
Other new #1’s from Marvel this week include: 1602 Witch Hunter Angela #1, Captain Marvel and the Carol Corps #1 and Mrs Deadpool and Her Howling Commandos #1.
Divergence
DC’s relaunching series and releasing new number #1’s with DC Divergence.
First up is the big one, our best selling title, Batman #41.
After the insane ending of Batman #41, is this really the direction this book will go? Robot Batman? Trust in Scott Snyder!
Even Superman isn’t convinced over in Batman Superman #21
In the realm of those new #1’s, Starfire gets out of the shadow of the boys and gets her own title this week!
It has to be based on her success on Teen Titans, which could be the best superhero cartoon ever.
Other DC #1’s this week include Constantine the Hellblazer #1, Earth 2 Society #1, Red Hood Arsenal #1 (the aforementioned ‘boys’) and SECTION EIGHT #1! (But this book! It’s Garth Ennis going back to his old Hitman team. Dog Welder!)
Just like last week, we’ll also have some cool promo items to give away, Like Batman armor blueprints, Starfire postcards, and HARLEY QUINN paper masks! (the new issue of Harley Quinn comes in the week, so be sure to stop by the shop Wednesday to make sure you get the mask to go with it!)
Indie and more Marvel
In the world of indie comics, the big standout is Starve from Brian Wood and Image Comics.
“Once the world’s most famous chef, Gavin Cruikshank’s been in a self-imposed exile for years. His little foodie television program has since evolved into STARVE, an arena sport that pits chef against chef for the pleasure of their super-rich patrons. It’s a stain on a once-noble profession, and Chef Gavin is ready to go to war to stop it. Two things stand in his way: his arch rival Roman Algiers, and his adult daughter Angie, who probably just wants her dad back and acting normal. Brian Wood has written indie hits like DMZ, Local, Channel Zero and DEMO.”
Lastly, we got two graphic novels to prep you for July 17th, the release of Ant Man!
Ant-Man Scott Lang Gaphic Novel and Marvel’s Ant-Man Prelude Graphic Novel are both coming out this Wednesday. Ant-Man Scott Lang is a collection off all Scott’s earliest appearances, while Marvel’s Ant Man Prelude tends to focus on more modern stories. Both great reads!
