Batman Europa, the book that was announced over 11 years ago, finally hits the stands this week.

Batman Europa #1This four issue mini is well worth the wait. Batman and Joker form a reluctant alliance as they travel around Europe in an attempt to save Batman’s life from a virus that is slowly killing him. This first issue has art by JIm Lee!

Guess what? It’s suddenly cool to read Vertigo Comics again. DC has been in the process of launching 12 new series at the rate of one a week through the months of October through December. These titles have been really entertaining, with many being on par with what Image has been doing. Do yourself a favor and watch this video giving you the quick overview of all twelve titles.

Res Thorn #1

Red Thorn is billed as a good replacement for Fables, full of Scottish Mythology.

The staff pick of the week all around is the first issue of Vader Down #1.

Star Wars Vader Down #1

This six part story is the first chapter of a six part cross over between Star Wars and Darth Vader. The Darth Vader character typically always carries the weight of the Empire with him, but here we get to see him stranded on his own against the entire Rebellion. The story checklist looks like this:

  • Vader Down #1 (chapter one)
  • Darth Vader #13 (chapter two)
  • Star Wars #13 (chapter three)
  • Darth Vader #14 (chapter four)
  • Star Wars #14 (chapter five)
  • Darth Vader #15 (chapter six)

Marvel’s New Releases continue this week with Mighty Thor #1, Ms Marvel #1 and Spider-Woman #1.

Mighty Thor #1

Jason Aaron continues his run on Thor, as Jane Foster has to learn how to fight cancer in her mortal form.

Spider-Woman #1

The adventures of Jessica Drew as a mom to be.

Ms Marvel #1

This fan favorite is back, only this time Kamala is an Avenger.

Finally, mark your calendars for out yearly Christmas Party from 8pm to 11pm on Saturday, December 19th. This year will have a Star Wars theme, timed perfectly with the release of the new movie the day before. What better way to celebrate the new movie and the holidays than to drink a Wampa Christmas Ale or a Tauntaun Winter Warmer in our pop up Cantina?
