Hi Comic Shop Friends! Welcome to another wonderful week of comics!

To celebrate the filming of Superman here in Cleveland, we’re giving out free Superman comics! Two per person and there are some free prints of the “Superman’s Cleveland” map so you can check out the real-life locations around town.

Thursday the 18th is Late Nite Comics! This is one you do not want to miss, especially if you’re looking for Small Press and Independent books! We’ll be filling the table with long boxes of Small Press dollar issues, mostly pre-1990s, and I’ve heard there are some good books in there. And 50% off back issues! Yes, even the wall! Open ‘til midnight!

Then following that, we’ll be running our Not at Comic Con Sale July 25th through July 28th! The foyer will be filled with dollar books, back issues will be 50% off, including the wall, and everything else in the shop will be 10% off! That’s the perfect time to stock up on supplies, and grab those graphic novels you’ve been eyeing on our Rec Wall!

Of course, stop in and check out all the new back issues John’s been working on! He recently added a whole box of Amazing Spider-Man, and a short box of Spawn, among other things. We’re keeping the wall full of keys, and make sure to take a look at our Facebook page to see when John does updates and wall rerack videos. And if you’re thinking about waiting for the sales to pick up wall books, just remember that they may not make it until then! We’ve been selling a lot of the new back issues as soon as they hit the wall and the new boxes, and are seeing a lot of customers excited to fill in their collections, so someone may grab what you have your eye on before the 50% off!

MARVEL COMICS

If you haven’t been reading Phillip Kennedy Johnson’s Incredible Hulk, this Blood Hunt one-shot is a great place to jump on! If you are reading Incredible Hulk, this Blood Hunt one-shot is another great horror story that fits right into the ongoing series. Hulk and Banner are on a quest to save their young friend Charlie’s soul, (See the recent issues for that creepy tale!) and that leads them into abandoned Old Tucson. Except it’s not quite abandoned. The last man in town has a story to tell about what lies beneath the desert. With art by Danny Earls.

Also, this week for Blood Hunt we have, Avengers #16, Union Jack the Ripper #3, and Blood Hunt: Wolverine #3!

Terrax the Tamer is tired of living in the Silver Surfer’s shadow. He has devised a trap he believes the Silver Surfer cannot escape, not without causing the deaths of innocents, and destroying Surfer’s reputation. Manga creator Taigami is back with more Kid Venom! Following an appearance in the Death of the Venomverse and the Kid Venom: Origins one-shot, Kintaro and his symbiote, Clinter return to unravel the mystery of the Vacant Oni in Japan, 977. Kid Venom has made his presence known to the evil symbiotes, but someone has their eye on Kintaro, Clinter, and the Minamoto Samurai Corps. New characters and dangers are revealed, and a familiar-looking pouch kicks off a quest for Kid Venom and Sadamitsu.

From the ashes comes a new beginning! The first of the new X-Men titles is Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman’s X-Men! Krakoa is gone, Orchis has fallen, but the X-Men remain. Taking over a factory in Alaska as their new base of operations, Cyclops leads a new team of Beast, Magneto, Psylocke, Kid Omega, Temper, Magik, and Juggernaut. Their first mission: making the Chief of Police in town comfortable with their presence. Their second mission: rescue six new mutants, and Wolverine, from the remnants of Orchis’s Fourth School. A solid start to the new era of X-Men, with new forces moving in to battle for the destiny and philosophy of the mutant species.

DC COMICS

The first of seven biweekly issues from Leah Williams and Caitlin Yarsky that shows us what the Absolute Power event looks like through the eyes of evil! Amanda Waller’s Trinity of Evil, including the living weapon, the Last Son, have set their sights on the Marvel Family. Mostly drained of their powers, Billy Baston and Mary Bromfield are in hiding and looking for weapons to help them survive. The Gods won’t intervene, but can Black Adam protect the Rock of Eternity against the Last Son? And what are Waller’s plans for Steve Trevor? What are Waller’s plans for the world?

There’s one Absolute Power tie-in this week, with Green Lantern #13 and the full-length story “Defenses Down” written by Jeremy Adams with art by Fernando Pasarin, featuring Lanterns across the universe!

The story you didn’t vote for! From the DC Vault comes Robin Lives! For the first time, find out what would have happened if the fans had voted to let Jason Todd live in 1988. J.M. DeMatteis and Rick Leonardi’s four-issue mini-series begins with the murder of the Joker! Who killed him? “But to understand the Joker’s end, we have to go back… to another end. To a teenager fighting for his life.”

SMALL PRESS COMICS

Following the enigmatic billionaire Norwegian family, the Asvalds, Zack Kaplan and Fico Ossio’s new series is described as Succession meets John Wick, but with immortal Vikings! A thousand years ago the family discovered a source of immortality. In the present, they use this as an advantage in their business dealings, and dole out barbaric punishments to those who say no. Frey, the only daughter, wants no part in that side of the business, preferring to fund charities and stay out of the spotlight. When she and her journalist boyfriend are ambushed, she seeks freedom from her family’s influence, but in order to do so, she’ll have to confront her well-trained siblings in a bloodthirsty struggle for power and kill all immortals!

In the pages of Image’s Public Domain series, Syd Dallas and the team at Dallas Comics reimagine their classic character The Domain for a new audience, and this is that comic! Chip Zdarsky and Rachael Stott have a classic superhero origin story for those jumping in here, and a fun meta story for fans of Public Domain. Three friends start a Space Party club in 2018. Now, while on a Space Party outing to check out meteorites, they discover a crashed UFO. And aliens. And technology that gives them incredible abilities. The catch is, only one of them can use the powers at a time. Can their friendship survive the power’s temptation? And the government agency looking into the crash? And other aliens looking into the same crash?
