Andrea’s Assemblage of Picks for 09.11.2024

Hey Comic Shop Friends! First, all the titles from last week’s late shipment and misprints are here! Unfortunately, it looks like there will be more delays on some books the next few weeks due to delays at the printers. That means they’re shipped later for us, so if you’re missing titles or variants in your file, they should be in the following week. We appreciate your patience with these issues, and we’ll keep you posted if there are any other major delays or issues.

Now onto the fun stuff!

Late Nite Comics! Thursday the 19th! 8pm to midnight! We’ll have new dollar stock in the 60+ boxes that are coming out! 50% off back issues! Yes, including the wall! Help us make room for even more new collections by clearing out the current back issues!

On Saturday, September 21st, it’s the Last Day of Summer Sale! It’s half-off back issues all day! If you miss out on Late Nite, here’s your second chance to grab some great stuff! We’ll also be doing a raffle for some of the hardcovers John recently stocked up on!

Lastly, on Sunday, September 22nd, John will be at the West Side Market from 11 am to 2 pm with free Superman comics! You can also get a free print, shown above, by Sina Grace showcasing the city, the market, and the gesture. Joining us will be Dawn from Comics on the Corner, also handing out free comics! And since this is part of a larger initiative from the Cleveland Public Library and other local organizations, they’ll be handing out free books! Who doesn’t love free books? Especially free comics? Go get some!

I know October is filled with all the spooky stuff, but clear your calendar on October 19th, because Bumblebee will be making an appearance! You know we’re all big fans of Daniel Warren Johnson’s Transformers series, so we’re looking forward to this! We’ll have free copies of Transformers #1 to give out and a special print! More details to come.

SMALL PRESS COMICS

Time for another new DSTLRY book! Time Waits is the first of four, yes four, new miniseries by Chip Zdarsky at DSTLRY. Co-written by David Brothers with art by Marcus To, Time Waits is a violent, time travel sci-fi adventure. Blue, a former soldier, is trapped in the present, which is the past for him, and suffers from time sickness. His mind jumps from his current quiet life with Grace, a rural Sheriff, to the mission he couldn’t complete that left him here. Trying to leave the bloodshed and violence behind to build a family and a life of growth, Blue and Grace seem to be on the path to adopting a foster child, but when Blue’s former teammates show up to finish the job he couldn’t, the couple is forced to reckon with the past, present, and future. “Everything happens in its own time, not ours.”

Gerry Duggan and John McCrea are back with more Dead Eyes! Haven’t read the first volume? That’s okay, you can jump on here and they get you up to speed. Dead Eyes has an idea about where the missing paintings from the world’s most expensive smash and grab are located. He has a plan to get them back to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston by thieving from thieves. He’ll also have to contend with crooked cops stealing cash from sick people, security guards, and the mafia! Is the ten-million-dollar reward worth it? Dead Eyes and his buddy Wheels sure hope so!
